Mason Rudolph

Rudolph suffered quite the scary hit in which he was out cold on the field before waking up and walking off just two weeks ago. Now, he has cleared protocol and will start on Monday night after missing only one game.

Devlin Hodges filled in nicely, but Mason Rudolph is the team’s starter. The Steelers have said as much multiple times.

Rudolph was having a pretty decent season before the injury. Considering he got thrown into the fire after Ben Roethlisberger’s injury, it was unfair to expect him to light it up, although that would have been nice to see.

Rudolph will start against one of the worst pass defenses in the league, and that is the perfect opportunity for him to get himself back in a groove and play a great game against Miami.

Much like JuJu, Rudolph can use this game as a stepping stone to the rest of the season. He can gain some confidence going up against a weaker foe while working himself back into live game action.

The Steelers took Rudolph in the draft in 2018 to develop into a possible Big Ben replacement when he is done. They will use this season to see if he can show he has any ability to do just that.

So far, I believe he has shown he can at least keep the team competitive. The Steelers have two exciting young quarterbacks, and that is more than they can say pretty much since Ben became the starter.

The Steelers X-factors will play a big part in hopefully beating Miami this week and getting to 3-4. Big games from all three would do wonders for the confidence of the team and the offense in particular through the rest of the season.
