Will Juju Smith-Schuster improve his stats?

The loss of Antonio Brown has hurt JuJu Smith-Schuster. It is a truth that nobody wants to admit. His stats are down because of two reasons. One is that he is the receiver that is drawing double-teams, and the other reason is the passing game is down this season.

According to Pro Football Reference, JuJu Smith-Schuster only has 340 yards receiving on the year. That number is not going to compare to the 1,400 yards that he had receiving in 2019. This is down year for the young receiver.

The other problem is that some believe JuJu Smith-Schuster is distracted by off-the-field things. He likes to play Fortnite and has been known to go out drinking after a Steelers loss. Mark Madden, a local radio host, has been heckling him on twitter.

This tweet implies that Juju should be resting before the Steelers game if the Steelers want to be ready for the Dolphins. This is probably not a big deal as Juju is probably healthy enough to go to a Pitt game after practicing during the week.

What should be taken from this tweet is that Juju is not performing to the level that I thought he would, and now he is drawing criticism from the local media. I do not want to blow this out of proportion though, as Mark Madden likes to heckle former and current Steelers players.

Conclusion

This has been a disappointing season for the Steelers, but Monday night is an opportunity to reinvigorate the fan base. I will only look at this game as a success if the Steelers handily beat the Dolphins. If the Steelers squeak out a win, this game will be a failure.

A loss on Monday night would not only be embarrassing, but it would also cause many fans to give up on the 2019 Steelers. This game is a must-win to keep the fans interested in this season.

This season will say a lot about the future of Pittsburgh at the quarterback position. If Mason Rudolph can make the Steelers competitive, then maybe he will get the job after Roethlisberger retires. If he can’t keep them competitive, then the Steelers will have to draft a QB when Ben hangs up his cleats.
