Projected Inactives:

Zach Gentry: Healthy scratch

Zach Gentry will be a healthy scratch as well as the Steelers do not need a third tight end. Gentry is not a major contributor on special teams and so he is best kept on the inactive list. The Steelers need to sit seven players on their active roster and so Gentry will be one of them.

Justin Layne: Healthy scratch

The Steelers like to dress Justin Layne sometimes because of what he can add on special teams, but I think they would rather dress Donte Moncrief this week. The Steelers need a number four receiver as Johnny Holton and Ryan Switzer mostly are on the team for special teams. Layne will be the third healthy scratch for the Steelers.

Conclusion

I bet you are wondering why I didn’t put Paxton Lynch on this list and the reason is that I think he will be put on Waivers on Saturday. The Black & Gold will need another healthy running back and so calling one up to the roster will be necessary.

The Steelers have been more flexible this year with keeping their third quarterback on the practice squad. I can’t imagine that another team would want to claim Paxton Lynch and so I see him making it safely to the practice squad. If he gets claimed, he can be replaced by another QB.
