Will the Steelers defense shine this week?

The answer to this question is yes. Maybe they didn’t have the turnovers that they have had in the past. Perhaps they didn’t get an interception from Minkah Fitzpatrick. Maybe TJ Watt had some minor injuries, but the Steelers defense played well enough to win.

The Steelers defense only gave up 21 points, and that was to a team that has Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, and Nick Chubb. None of those stars torched the Steelers. Even though Beckham Jr. and Landry have had down years, I still give the secondary credit for keeping them in check.

The Steelers are a defensive team, and that fits with their identity. They have invested the draft capital and hired defensive coaches to make this team a defensive team. This is more reminiscent of the Steelers that most of us know.

Our own Mike Pelaia wrote the Steel Curtain is returning to Pittsburgh. Minkah Fitzpatrick may just have been the puzzle piece the Steelers were missing when trying to build the defense they have wanted for years. Now it’s about time to rebuild the offense.
