Steelers can win if defensively…

The one bright spot was the defense on that dreadful Thursday night–but they were not without fault.

On the Brown’s opening drive, they could not contain Baker Mayfield as he completed a big 3rd down pass to Kareem Hunt and then a bomb to OBJ–leading to the first points of the game.

Nonetheless, the defense kept Pittsburgh in the game until they couldn’t any longer. The Browns were able to convert one last Rudolph interception into a game-sealing touchdown.

One thing to mention was the lack of consistent pressure on Mayfield. When he was pressured, he was able to escape the pocket and make plays down the field.

If they want to limit the Browns lethal offense, they will have to make the Browns one dimensional and create turnovers.

To make the Browns one dimensional, they will have to control the line of scrimmage at all times. No excuses, it’s got to happen. Stuff the run, collapse the pocket, and contain Baker Mayfield.

Once the front lines can accomplish this, it’ll be up to the entire unit to force the issue. Put the pressure on the young, hot Browns offense, and the turnovers will come.

If the defense fails to control the line of scrimmage and make the Browns offense life hell, they will be in for a long afternoon.
