Front line vs Kyler Murray

In back to back weeks, the Steelers face against two first overall picks out of Oklahoma. If you’re a prospect thinking about playing Oklahoma, that’s not a bad stat to consider!

The most recent number one overall draft pick presents similar threats to the Steelers as last year’s number one pick: mobility and ability to make plays when everything breaks down.

Despite the offense being fairly inconsistent, Kyler Murray is still a threat to the Steelers defense. He can make throws all over the field and has a killer arm to do so.

If he gets outside of the pocket, he is much more dangerous than within. He was knocked on his height and how it will affect his pocket play, but everyone agrees his play outside can kill a team.

The Steelers will have to do what they do so well each week: apply pressure. Putting Kyler Murray on the ground is crucial. Any quarterback that gets hit and put on the ground will test them mentally and physically; especially young quarterbacks.

If the Steelers defense allows Murray to run around and extend plays, it could equate to a long afternoon in the desert. They’ve learned their lesson this year a few times with elusive quarterbacks, and they should have no excuses this week to shut the Cardinals down.
