The Still Curtain crew gives their final regular-season predictions, as the Pittsburgh Steelers (8-7) close out 2019 against the Baltimore Ravens (13-2), as both wish results fall into favor Sunday for a spot into the postseason.

Possibly the final pages to the 86th chapter of its illustrious history, the Pittsburgh Steelers end the 2019 regular season against its most despised foe, the Baltimore Ravens. As the Ravens have settled into the number one seed for the AFC at 13-2, Pittsburgh hopes to continue this proving journey.

First, a win at M&T Bank Stadium then rushing to whatever source can provide if the Tennessee Titans loss or not, will tell the destiny if Pittsburgh is playoff-bound. A previous week 5 matchup between the two, Pittsburgh was able to tie the Ravens lowest point-differential in a single-game this year (3), though they fell short to Baltimore 23-26 in overtime.

However, the Steelers are in luck. As reports are saying that the Ravens will be without QB Lamar Jackson, RB Mark Ingram, S Earl Thomas, OT Mark Yanda, & DT Brandon Williams, and an injury report that also includes the likes of TE Mark Andrews, CB Jimmy Smith, & WR Marquise Brown, Pittsburgh appears to be at a great advantage. This is not to think the intensity won’t be at a high-level for Baltimore. They are a legit Super Bowl contender with a head coach that understands & appreciates the details behind its aspirations, so still expect a battle.

Vegas has the Steelers favored at 2 points, and our Still Curtain team believes they have a chance to pull out the victory as well.

Writers’ Recap

Last week didn’t bode well for Pittsburgh or the Still Curtain team. As all thought the ugly, underwhelming loss to the New York Jets wouldn’t happen, our writers look to rebound against a lessened Ravens team.

Predictions & Explanations

“Steelers are desperate for a win and a Tennessee loss to find themselves in the playoffs. Fortunately, Baltimore has locked up the number one seed and they have nothing to play for this weekend. Even with Pittsburgh’s dismal offense, I think they find a way to get the job done on the road this week” – Tommy Jaggi (Steelers 20-17)

“The Steelers offense has been beyond dreadful and nothing but harmful to this team. Yes the Ravens are playing backups but that talent might be enough to still defeat this Pittsburgh team” – Ryan Pawloski (Ravens 17-7)

”The Black & Gold have something to play for and the Ravens don’t. Look for the Steelers to take this game that matters much more to them” – Edward Hunt (Steelers 21-14)

”Duck begins to ‘get it’ that NFL DBs are too fast and too athletic for him to make a living throwing into double coverage or tight coverage. He takes what’s available, moves the chains, and leads to a win protecting the ball” – James Perry Kelly (Steelers 20-16)

”Even with Lamar out, the Steelers defense can’t do enough to overcome such a lackluster offense of their own. The Ravens have more than just Lamar and are one of the more complete teams in the league. Their offense can still do just enough to squeak past Pittsburgh and unfortunately put an end to their playoff hopes unless a whole lot of luck falls in the Steelers favor” -Brandon Kring (Ravens 16-10)

”With the Steelers facing RG3 and the Ravens bench look for Pittsburgh to win this defensive battle” – Christian Brown (Steelers 17-10)

”Yeah, Pittsburgh faces the Ravens B team with playoff hopes on the line and get the win” – Chris Halling (Steelers 20-10)

”The Ravens will be without most of their star-power & be on a “down” week after securing the top seed. Increasing their intensity, Tomlin is going to have this team ready to secure a win” – Jordan Newman (Steelers 16-10)
