Special Teams

K: Chris Boswell

P: Jordan Berry

LS: Kameron Canaday

KR: Anthony McFarland

PR: Diontae Johnson

Kicker Chris Boswell had an incredible bounce-back year last season, and he isn’t going anywhere. Likewise, punter Jordan Berry is pretty well solidified in his spot while Kameron Canaday will assume duties as the lone long snapper on the roster.

The return game could look a bit different this year. Ryan Switzer was awful at both kick and punt returns last season – averaging 3.6 yards and 18.4 yards, respectively. Pittsburgh could look for some fresh legs returning kicks and punts this year.

I have the Steelers going with one of the fastest players on their roster in Anthony McFarland as the kick returner. The rookie running back had just one kick return in his two years at Maryland, but it went for 40 yards. He has the speed and bulk to handle these duties.

In addition, I have  Diontae johnson securing a role as the primary punt returner – something he did in the second half of the season for the Steelers. Johnson was phenomenal as a punt returner last year as he averaged 12.4 yards on 20 returns and pitched in an 85-yard touchdown.

There is still a long way to go until the start of the season, and several of these potions could change. As of now, this is a pretty good guess as to the starters the Pittsburgh Steelers may deploy to start the 2020 NFL season.
