The Steelers ‘D’ got it together and held off the Texans en route to a third straight victory

I don’t know about you, but my thought as the Steelers were down by 11 points was this:  is this the game where the ‘D’, that had played well for the first two weeks of the season, lets us down and contributes to a loss rather than contributing to a win?

Fortunately, my fears were allayed as the defense got on track and were able to hold the Texans offense at bay in the second half to help the Steelers earn our third victory in as many games.  What was really impressive to me was the fact that we were able to hold the Texans to 29 rushing yards.

Think about that for a second.  The Steelers defense held the Texans offense to 29 rushing yards.  If you take into account that the Texans have a mobile QB and a pretty good RB in their own right, what we were able to accomplish in run defense is that much more impressive.

On the flip side, it’s concerning to me that the Steelers defense has given up 58 points through three games, but, we have come out on top in each of those games, so ‘no harm, no foul’. You have to wonder if the ‘bend, don’t break’ trend will continue.

What most definitely needs to continue is the trend of sacking the opposing QB.  The Steelers ‘D’ was able to notch 5 sacks against the Texans.  Through the first three weeks of the 2020 season, we are in the ‘pole position’ in sacks with 15.  While this stat is nice, what’s nicer is that those sacks have allowed the offense to repossess the ball in order to ‘salt’ games away.

Let’s wrap up this discussion.
