Sam Darnold could resurrect his career in Pittsburgh

The Steelers need a new quarterback and so acquiring Sam Darnold would be good for them. They could give Sam Darnold a change in scenery and show him a winning culture.

Sam Darnold was a very good quarterback prospect at USC. Many thought he was the best quarterback in the 2018 draft and that included Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Baker Mayfield. He hasn’t panned out because of the situation I mentioned earlier.

The Steelers could acquire Sam Darnold for cheap because right now he is a bust at #3. The Jets could want to move on from him after letting him down with what they provided around him in New York.

Also, JuJu Smith-Schuster said he would like to play with Sam Darnold again. I don’t know if JuJu Smith-Schuster will want to resign with the Steelers, but it does tell me that Sam Darnold is someone the Steelers want in their locker room.

Conclusion

This Sam Darnold situation could be a chance for the Steelers to get a top quarterback prospect and make him the quarterback they thought he could be at USC. The Jets were a terrible landing spot for Darnold but I think Pittsburgh would be a better situation for Darnold.

Next. 4 reasons the Steelers shouldn’t even consider re-signing RB James Conner. dark

I could see Sam Darnold and Mike Tomlin having a good relationship together. Sam Darnold is a tough kid and Mike Tomlin has a no-nonsense attitude. I could see the two seeing eye to eye.

This would be a great mentoring opportunity for Ben Roethlisberger. Sam Darnold has a better chance of earning Ben Roethlisberger’s respect than Mason Rudolph did. Maybe Mason Rudolph would be better in New York as well.
