The competition hasn’t been good

I know it’s still early in the 2020 season, and fans are excited to have potentially the best start since 1979 with a win against the Eagles on Sunday, but there’s no denying the competition hasn’t exactly been top-notch.

Pittsburgh has been favored in all three games for a reason. The New York Giants and the Houston Texans are both 0-4 football teams, while the Denver Broncos only win of the season came in a Week 4 shootout against the New York Jets. These three teams the Steelers have beaten have a combined record of 1-11 on the season and all of them will more than likely be picking very high in next April’s NFL Draft.

It doesn’t get much better this week either as Pittsburgh plays the 1-2-1 Eagles. Eventually, Mike Tomlin’s crew will be able to test their skills against a few playoff-caliber football teams, but for now, we shouldn’t read too much into their wins against bad teams this year. The Steelers are 3-0, but it’s because they did what was expected of them to start the 2020 season.
