The Steelers defense was flat out dominant against the Browns

The Steelers ‘D’ was ‘firing on all cylinders’ against the Browns.  We were able to hold the Browns offense to 220 total yards while surrendering 7 points.  The ‘D’ also generated 4 sacks and forced 2 INTs. As I stated earlier in the discussion, the defense held the Browns to an 8 percent third-down completion rate.

Through 5 games of the 2020 season, according to ESPN.com, the Steelers ‘D’ ranks 2nd in yards allowed per game, 3rd in point allowed per game, are tied for 2nd in turnover differential, are tied for 2nd in INTs, and are 1st in sacks.

While I am not surprised at the above-referenced statistics since Keith Butler, our ‘DC’, always seems to have us in the top 10 in almost every meaningful category, I am surprised that we rank as high as we do in some categories.

Through the first 4 games of the season, it just seemed to me that the defense was ‘leaky’ at times, but made a big play when one needed to be made.  Against the Browns, the Steelers defense was in control from start to finish.  It was the kind of performance that we will need down the stretch.

Let’s wrap up this particular discussion, shall we?
