Here’s a free agent defensive tackle that has made quite the living in the middle of NFL defenses. Marcell Dareus was the former 3rd overall pick by the Buffalo Bills back in 2011, and he has had a number of very good seasons in the NFL.

At 6’3” and 331 pounds, Dareus has always been known for his ability to take on blocks and plug rushing lanes. However, he has also provided an impressive spark as a pass rusher – especially for a player his size.

In 2014 for the Bills, Dareus was a first-team All-Pro player as the big defensive tackle earned 10.0 sacks, 12 tackles for a loss, and 14 quarterback hits in 15 games. Dareus was a member of the Jaguars for the past two and a half seasons where his production took a significant dip – earning just 2.5 sacks over that time.

Still, despite his recent lack of production prior to his release midway through last season, we know that this is a big man with a lot of talent and he is still younger than Alualu was when the Steelers signed him back in 2017. Dareus could revamp his forgotten career on a great Steelers defense and earn a solid role in Pittsburgh’s defensive line rotation.
