Fire Randy Fichtner

The ‘fire Fichtner’ train is going to be on edge of their seats this offseason to see what happens to the Steelers offensive coordinator. Admittedly, things could have gone much better for Pittsburgh’s offense in 2020, and many believe that Randy Fichtner is holding this offense back.

At the same time, Fichtner could be doing exactly what Tomlin and the organization are asking him to do: Protect their franchise quarterback and find ways to get the ball out quick. If this is the case, perhaps they have been in his corner through all of their offensive struggles.

Prediction: Fichter isn’t done… yet

Ben Roethlisberger and Randy Fichtner seem to have a pretty good relationship, and I can assure you that Ben is not going to want to deal with adapting to a new offensive coordinator in the final stretch of his career. I think the Steelers let this play out as long as Roethlisberger is around, but don’t be surprised if he gets the ax once Big Ben retires.

There will be many more important choices that Pittsburgh must make this offseason, but all of these will prove to be crucial to the franchise for years to come. Let’s hope the Steelers make the right decisions to set up this franchise for success in the future.
