K Chris Boswell

It’s been unfortunate that Chris Boswell has missed time with a lingering groin injury this year, but such is the life of a kicker in the NFL. Still, when he has been on the field (which has been a majority of the season) Boswell has been brilliant.

Though he had one really bad year directly after receiving his new deal in 2018, Boswell has been ‘The Wizard of Boz’ for most of his career. He now has four seasons where he has made 90.6-95.0 percent of his field goals and is coming off his two best seasons to date.

Compared to some other top kickers, Boswell’s contract is certainly one the Steelers have to be happy with. While the nearly perfect Justin Tucker tops the league at $5 million per season and the most guaranteed money handed out to a kicker, Boswell is better than some of the kickers making roughly the same amount of money that he is. Robbie Gould is making more money as a 38-year-old kicking just 82.6 percent this year, while Ka’imi Fairbairn and Brandon McManus are all making more money while converting on a lower percentage of field goals.

Pittsburgh has Boswell locked up for the next two seasons, and his questionable contract extension is now looking pretty good.
