OT Joe Haeg

It’s not a good sign that Steelers fourth-round offensive tackle has struggled so badly early on. It’s even worse if the swing tackle they paid this offseason looks almost as bad. Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of positives to note from Joe Haeg so far.

Admittedly, Haeg doesn’t have an easy matchup against some talented Steelers pass rushers, but he hasn’t even faced T.J. Watt in pads yet – a contest he is destined to lose. At 28 years old and with five years of experience already under his belt, I expected Haeg to look better than what he has so far at training camp.

Considering that Haeg has a cap number of $4.6 million over the next two seasons, according to Over the Cap, this isn’t exactly chump change, and he needs to prove that he can step into the game and hold his own in the event of an injury. There is still plenty of time for the veteran to turn it around, but the early results aren’t very good.
