I know this isn’t just one person, but as is often the case, it’s hard to narrow the blame down to one guy without going back and watching the All-22 (something NFL Game Pass doesn’t have available right now). While this inexperienced patchwork unit held its own at times, the overall performance of the group was concerning.

The Steelers ran for a measly 2.5 yards per carry on the ground (30 carries for 76 yards as a team). Even Najee Harris – who moved kept his legs moving and carried defenders on a few runs – finished the game averaging just 3.1 yards rush attempt.

The pass blocking was equally concerning, as Pittsburgh’s three quarterbacks didn’t have much time before they were forced to get rid of the ball. This could have played into the mediocre performances of Haskins and Rudolph.

The good news is that the Steelers were missing most of their starters in this contest, but it’s concerning that all five projected starters have yet to even take a snap with each other in training camp. Let’s hope they can get on the field soon and clean up some of these issues.

For the most part, it was a positive overall performance from the Pittsburgh Steelers and there were a number of players who performed particularly well on the defensive side of the ball. However, these five players will need to step up their game moving forward.
