EDGE Quincy Roche

Here’s a player that I would really like to see make the final roster. Unfortunately, Quincy Roche could be on the outside looking in if the Steelers only plan on keeping four edge defenders as they have in the past.

Roche has been a bit up and down this summer, but that is to be expected of a day-three rookie. Fortunately, Roche has three more preseason contests to try to unseat Cassius Marsh, who has been running ahead of him on the team’s depth chart.

A stellar performance against the Eagles tonight could be enough to do the trick in flipping positions in the pecking order. At 23 years old, Roche is significantly younger with an extremely cheap, four-year rookie contract and more upside. He had a quality sack last week against the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game. It will be interesting to see if he can build on that with another solid performance against the Eagles.

There are other players who could be fighting for positioning tonight, but these three have a chance to leapfrog the players ahead of them on the depth chart with a great showing tonight. Keep a watchful eye on them.
