3. OT Dan Moore Jr.

Prior to the start of training camp, I would have thought there would have been almost no chance for Dan Moore to be one of the most impressive players in the preseason for the Steelers this summer. Offensive tackle is an incredibly difficult position to play, and the fact that Moore has made the jump from college to the NFL look so easy is amazing.

While Moore still hasn’t played a snap of regular-season action, his strong performance during the preseason is going to have the coaches talking about moving him to a bigger role in the future. Right now, Chukwuma Okorafor is the starting left tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but there has been a night and day difference between him and Moore in the preseason.

Through his first three games, Moore has displayed impressive mobility and pretty good technique to keep edge rushers at bay. In addition, his terrific athletic traits are on display when reach-blocking and getting to the second level to spring open running lanes.

As a former fourth-round pick, I’m shocked that Dan Moore has played as well as he has. It will be interesting to see if he could earn an opportunity with the starters at some point this season.

There are other players who deserve recognition for their impressive preseason performances, but these three Steelers have been a cut above the rest in my mind. We will see how many snaps they get in the final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers this week.
