Steelers LB Devin Bush: Sell
I know the thought of trading Devin Bush might seem like a brash overreaction, but there are actually a few reasons why doing so could make sense. Bush was the 10th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and it cost Pittsburgh a first and second-round pick to move up to secure him.
Sadly, he hasn’t been worth a fraction as much to this team so far. Now in year three, things don’t seem to be getting much better. While it may take him some time to get back to 100 percent after the ACL tear he suffered early last season, there’s no guarantee he ever becomes a great player.
Just two years ago, the Miami Dolphins were able to get a first-round pick out of Minkah Fitzpatrick who had really struggled at times in their secondary. Though this might seem outrageous, a fresh start might be what both sides need.
The Steelers obviously won’t get their draft capital back out of Bush, but perhaps there’s a team out there who still thinks he’s worth a future first-round pick or maybe even a pair of day-two picks. If this were the case, Pittsburgh should strongly consider shipping him. This team will be looking for a QB in 2022 and they could use all the draft capital they can get.
The depth of Pittsburgh’s roster would certainly decrease if they were to pull the trigger on some of these moves, but it may be more important to get some compensation for the future rather than trying to sell out for a slim chance this season.
