Steelers DT Montravius Adams

Be honest; how many of you reading this knew that Montravius Adams was an NFL player prior to Pittsburgh’s Week 13 game against the Ravens? If this is you, then you might be even more surprised to learn that he’s 26 years old and has bounced around the NFL for the past five seasons.

Most recently, Adams spent time as a reserve player for the New Orleans Saints for most of this season before he was waived and later signed by the Steelers signed. Adams didn’t light up the box score in his first action in Pittsburgh, but he was noticeable at times.

Because Isaiah Buggs and Carlos Davis both missed this game with injuries, Adams stepped in right away and played 46 percent of defensive snaps. During this time he earned two tackles and deflected a pass with an impressive hook-shot-like jump. Adams also applied serviceable pressure on Lamar Jackson.

If this had been a player who was on the team all season, his performance might not be worth mentioning, but Adams caught the attention of fans who had no idea who he was prior to this contest. He could continue to see significant playing time as Pittsburgh’s defensive lineman recover from injuries.
