5 resolutions for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the new year
Steelers must look like themselves again
The Steelers have lost their way over the last few seasons, especially in 2021. The number of undisciplined players that have cost the Steelers games or have been penalized is unusual and it’s hard to say if it’s been fixed.
Some of the calls in this fashion gone against the Steelers are just bad calls and that’s expected to happen, but it seems like no one knows what’s going on and no one is listening to the veterans or coaches as the season progresses. A late-season collapse last year and possibly Coach Tomlin’s first losing season in Pittsburgh are the latest examples in Pittsburgh’s overall regression.
In order for the Steelers to get back to their roots, many positions in both the coaching staff and the roster must be addressed. The Steelers will be in search of a new offensive line coach this offseason unless they promote interim offensive line coach Chris Morgan, which wouldn’t be surprising since they love to hire from within.
A new offensive coordinator and possibly a new defensive coordinator as well since rumors have swirled that Kieth Butler will retire at the end of the year. What the Steelers need to do is all opinion-based from the fans, no one truly knows what the Steelers’ agenda is for the 2022 offseason. But if they want to succeed again, they need to get physical and dig into their roots and become a hard-nosed football team.
