6 potential starting QBs for the Steelers after Senior Bowl

Steelers could start Mariota
Marcus Mariota has taken a step back for the team after being one of my early leaders for the Steelers starting quarterback in 2022. While he is no longer my favorite, I do think he still has a good shot at getting a deal here. He fits the bill of what this team is looking for in a quarterback now. Assuming his deal doesn’t break the bank, he should be an affordable and viable option next year.
While he hasn’t seen regular work as a quarterback since signing on as the Raiders’ top backup, he has been used as a gadget player and a quality reverse. While his play with the Titans was filled with inconsistencies, there are still enough quality traits in him to be seen as a short-term starter. For an offense that wants to be more of an athletic threat as opposed to the limited style of play from Ben Roethlisberger, Mariota would go a long way in providing that.
While not a perfect player by any means, the Steelers could do far worse than Mariota next season. It would get the offense geared toward a more athletic quarterback that can damage defenses on the ground. As well, he fits what Matt Canada has best worked with as an offensive coordinator. Mariota is still the best free-agent fit even if his standings have taken a bit of a hit in recent weeks.
