2. Seattle Seahawks

Potentially the most likely team that could draft Willis is the Seattle Seahawks. Of any team that could select Willis, the Seahawks are in the best draft position, as most blue-chip prospects will already be selected, making it much easier to reach a bit for who they could believe to be their franchise quarterback.

After the Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for a package that included several players, and draft selections, including the ninth overall pick, they instantly became the favorites to select Willis. Like Wilson, Willis has mobility, so the style of offense would not have to change much, and Pete Carroll likes to rely on the running game which could be a great fit for Willis.

Willis is a very raw prospect, who may need to sit for at least half the season to learn the offense and refine his skills. In Seattle, he can do that as the team acquired Drew Lock in the Wilson trade and can let him start for much of this season. If Lock plays well then they will be able to trade him for draft capital, and if not they can cut him after the year.

Once Willis does start to play, he will have a run-centered offense, centered on Chris Carson, and could have DK Metcalf out wide to throw to, assuming they don’t trade him, as well as Noah Fant at tight end. Willis’ arm strength will lend nicely to hitting Metcalf on the deep ball, and his mobility and speed could set up plenty of read-option opportunities for Carroll to run with.

The Seahawks are in a rebuild, and with no franchise quarterback, and some draft capital to build their roster with the next two years. Willis’ upside could be tantalizing for the team, and he could be the perfect team for them to center their rebuild around.
