Steelers missed on Bozeman

This one really doesn’t make a lot of sense, as the Steelers could have and should have been all over the former Raven center. Bradley Bozeman is far from an elite player, but he is a physical run blocker who has improved in just about every season that he has started. He has his limitations on the move, but he is a proven commodity at this point.

Bozeman signed for a surprisingly low 2.8 million dollars with the Panthers this offseason. It is on a one-year deal, meaning Bozeman is likely hoping to improve his standing before the next offseason. That said, 2.8 million is still well below what most expected him to get on the open market.

Most puzzling yet, the Steelers opted to give Mason Cole a deal worth over 5 million dollars a season from the team. Cole isn’t as good as Bozeman is, and while he has more versatility to play guard, most are slating him to be the starting center right now. Bozeman would have been the better fit for less money. For a team looking to get more aggressive upfront, landing Bozeman instead of Cole would have made far more sense.
