Steelers targets if they traded up to the 5th pick

In the 5th position, they would target these two different players projected to fall back slightly. The Steelers should’t trade up to take players at 5 when they can take them at seven or ten.

Ahmad Gardner, CB Cincinnati

With Joe Haden’s departure, the Steelers need a replacement. They will do all right with what they have now in their secondary with the return of Terrell Edmunds. He is the highest-rated cornerback in the draft, and he would be a gem of a steal at number five.

The beautiful part is that he would not even need to start immediately. Coaches could take time, let him develop, and play him on situational downs where they need to run a nickel or a dime package. But he could start in the event of an injury.

Ikem Ekwonu, OT NC State

Why not take Ekwonu. Not quite as big as Neal, he still is 6’4” and 320 pounds. He’s the next best lineman out there. That’s still a lot of beef that can clog up the lanes for defensive pass rushers.

On Twitter, there was a tweet where he said his college awards bottles of syrup to offensive linemen who register pancake blocks during a game. According to Ekwonu, he has over 200 bottles of syrup. That right there tells you he’s a strong physical boy, and when someone his size comes running at you, it’s like being hit by a freight train.
