Auburn Tigers defensive lineman T.D. Moultry (99). /

EDGE  T.D. Moultry

Auburn, 6-2, 253 lbs

T.D. Moultry looks athletic but somehow it doesn’t translate to production. His body type is somewhere between a defensive end and a linebacker but he lacks the qualities to win in the NFL at either position. In 2021 he had a career-high 33 tackles with 7.5 for a loss and 3.5 sacks. In his 39-game, five-year career he has 70 tackles. 13.5 for a loss and 8.5 sacks.

Chances of sticking: Little to none. Moultry will probably be gone in the first rounds of cuts.

CB Chris Steele

USC, 6’-1”, 190 lbs., 4.48 40-yard

Steele finished his career with 95 tackles, 12 deflections, 1 fumble recovery, 1 forced fumble, 1.0 sacks, and 3 interceptions while playing in 29 games with 23 starts. In 2021 he had 33 tackles, 2 for a loss, 3 pass deflections, and 2 interceptions.

I watched a couple of games. Against Utah St. it was obvious the QB was targeting Steele and he couldn’t do anything to make him back off. He got beat, badly, for two touchdowns. Against Washington St. he had a big penalty hitting a player out of bounds.

Steele was a highly touted high school player who never lived up to expectations. Even though he’s fast enough and athletic he’s not a good cover corner and his instincts are bad. I can’t see him sticking around.

Chance of sticking: Little to None. He’ll be gone in the first round of cuts.
