1. Steelers must draft a wide receiver early

I would hate for the Pittsburgh Steelers to have to spend a first-round pick on a wide receiver in the 2023 NFL Draft when they have plenty of other pressing needs at important positions. However, we’ve seen around the league how fast a team can turn around by adding a good receiver.

Right now, the Steelers have a promising young player in George Pickens, but Diontae Johnson is coming off the worst year of his professional career, and who knows what the team will be getting out of Calvin Austin (who spent his entire rookie season on IR). Outside of these three, Pittsburgh won’t be getting much of anything offensively from their receivers.

Even if they don’t address the position with the 17th overall pick, Pittsburgh does own the 33rd pick in the NFL Draft this year thanks to the Chase Claypool trade. They could take the pick acquired from the Bears and throw it back to another wide receiver.

Adding a face very familiar to Kenny Pickett, like Jordan Addison, could really help the young quarterback early in his NFL career. If the Steelers want to see themselves get back on top as soon as 2023, they need to take a big step forward on offense, and adding a quality receiver early in the draft could give them a much-needed spark.
