The Pittsburgh Steelers are on the clock as they begin their own big board. The draft will be around before you know it. I previously created a NFL Big Board, but now it’s time to create a mock. Note that the mock and the big board don’t always line up, and I explain why.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

48. There are many different aspects of this pick. Jameis Winston is definitely the best quarterback in this class based on talent level, but his maturity issues would concern me if I were an NFL team. That makes Marcus Mariota my top ranked quarterback on my board. Rumors are, though, that the Buccaneers prefer Winston to Mariota.. Quarterback. Florida State. Jameis Winston. 1. player

2. Tennessee Titans

Defensive Tackle. Southern California. Leonard Williams. 2. player. 35. In a draft class that is far from superior at the top, Leonard Williams is the sure fire number one player. He’s a top tier talent that has very few holes in his game. He’s active in all phases of the game and has the natural athleticism to be a force on the line. The Titans could be in the market for a quarterback, but I expect them to roll with Mettenberger for another year.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars

3. player. 52. The Jaguars have the talent to win in a few seasons, but they aren’t quite ready yet. Gregory will play right into that winning in a few years. He has all the athleticism and potential in the world, but he certainly has some developing to do before he gets there. If the Jaguars can develop him he would be the perfect LEO for their defense.. Defensive End. Nebraska. Randy Gregory

4. Oakland Raiders

28. The best edge player in this draft class and also the best player not named Leonard Williams in this draft class, Fowler would be an outstanding addition to this Raiders defense. A good pass rush can completely transform a defense and Fowler would help to create one in Oakland, while also providing good run defense.. Linebacker. Florida. Dante Fowler Jr.. 4. player

5. Washington Redskins

6. New York Jets

30. It turns out that Geno Smith hasn’t worked out in the Big Apple to this point, so in comes Marcus Mariota. Mariota is the highest offensive player on my big board and should provide an instant boost at signal caller for the Jets. He has special athleticism and arm talent to build upon at the quarterback position.. Quarterback. Oregon. Marcus Mariota. 6. player

7. Chicago Bears

57. The Bears defense went from the best in the business to the basement of the league in only a few years. They’re going to need some serious changes to turn it around again and Dupree will certainly begin that process. Dupree wins with his outstanding footwork, and while his hand usage needs some work, he has outstanding upper body strength to develop devastating hand use.. Defensive End. Kentucky. Alvin Dupree. 7. player

8. Atlanta Falcons

Shane Ray. 8. player. 44. I have no doubts that Ray will be over-drafted once the NFL draft rolls around. It is rumored that he is highly valued in NFL circles and that the Falcons absolutely love him. I personally think that Ray is a speed rusher who doesn’t have great speed, and it’s fairly obvious on film that his first step is the driving point behind his success. He would still provide the Falcons with an upgrade on the edge.. Defensive End. Missouri

9. New York Giants

Washington. Shaq Thompson. 9. player. 31. The Giants have a long history of not taking linebackers in the first round but you aren’t taking Thompson to be a traditional linebacker, you’re taking him to be a play maker. Pigeonholing him into one position will make him less effective than if you let him be a rover in the middle of your defense. Whether you want him near the line as a spy, manning the middle of the field in coverage, or even rushing off the edge, he’ll be a huge asset to the Giants defense.. Linebacker

10. St. Louis Rams

51. The Rams have spent many high draft picks and many resources in free agency on the offensive line in recent off-seasons and yet they still aren’t up to par. Adding just one more piece to the offensive line could take it from one of the weakest units on the team to one of the stronger ones. Now they just need a quarterback to protect.. Offensive Tackle. Iowa. Brandon Scherff. 10. player
