He’s back!
The Steelers welcomed back one of their best offensive weapons while they’re already seemingly starting to click on the offensive side of the ball. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler explains that Le’Veon Bell is excited to get on the already running Steelers offensive train.
"“I just can’t wait to get back out there. I see how well the offense was moving the ball …I’m eager to get back on the field with an already explosive offense … and help us be that much more dynamic. I’m just ready to go out there and show people what I can do.” – Le’Veon Bell"
Murphy out
To make room on the roster for the return of Le’Veon Bell the Steelers had to make a move on Wednesday. They announced that they released rookie wide receiver Tyler Murphy. Murphy played in each of the first two games this season after being signed as an undrafted free agent this spring. Earlier this week the PPG’s Ed Bouchette speculated that kick returner Dri Archer would get the boot with the roster move. The Steelers decision to release Murphy instead could be due to the fact that Murphy is practice squad eligible should he clear waivers while Archer is not. It also could likely mean the Steelers aren’t yet ready to admit their mistake in drafting Archer in the 3rd round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
AFC Offensive Player of the Week
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was named as the AFC Offensive Player of the Week for week two after posting stats like 21 of 27 passes for 369 yards and 3 touchdown with a 155 passer rating.
