and even coach Mike Tomlin have paired with several food distribution centers around the area to provide food to families in need for this holiday.

Johnson and Mitchell teamed up and provided full Thanksgiving meals to 200 families in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood and Mike Mitchell explained that he’s just proud to be able to help someone else out in a time of need.

"“I actually had a lady tell me that this made her Thanksgiving. She is going to be able to cook for her family. That in a nutshell makes this awesome. That is what God has called us here today to do. Every person should want to help the next man. If you have it, you should give it. I am no different. I just want to do my part to help people.” – Mike Mitchell"

Art Rooney Award nominees

The NFL initiated the Art Rooney Award that honors sportsmanship in the NFL starting last year with Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald winning the inaugural award. This year the nominations are in from each team and the player who represents the Pittsburgh Steelers is cornerback William Gay.

Gay is known for his efforts in providing resources to victims of domestic violence after having lost his mother to a domestic violence murder.

Hall of Fame semifinalists

The list of the twenty five semifinalists for the 2016 Class for the Pro Football Hall of Fame includes some former Steelers. Along with former Steelers linebacker Kevin Greene and former Steelers player and assistant coach Tony Dungy former Steelers guard Alan Faneca makes the list of semifinalists for his first year of eligibility.

Ed Bouchette of the PPG suggests Faneca is perhaps the greatest guard in Steelers history. Faneca was a first-team All-Pro six times, a Pro Bowler nine times and was on the NFL’s All-Decade team for the 2000s as well as the Steelers 75th Anniversary all-time team.
