Steelers vs Broncos: Defensive Huddle

facebooktwitterreddit

Brock Osweiler and company looked nearly unstoppable in the first half, but our defense turned the tables and shut them down in the second half.

The Steelers always have make it interesting, don’t they? Let’s take a look at the performance of our beloved defense.

THE GOOD:

-The biggest thing that I’d like to talk about is how our defense bounced back. The Broncos offense were 8/8 on third-down conversions in the first-half, and 1/9 in the second half. For awhile they were making Brock Osweiler look like John Elway. Thankfully they didn’t allow it for the whole game.

-After allowing 27 points in the first-half, the Steelers defense allowed 0 points in the second. Amazing, right? Yes, this is the same defense that kept allowing all those Broncos receivers to get open.

THE BAD:

-Even though they played lights out in the second-half, there’s still some things this defense needs to tighten up. Ryan Shazier said that the communication wasn’t good in the first-half, that obviously changed in the second.

I hope our defense doesn’t let something like this happen again. I’m not trying to be harsh, I just know that we’ll be facing better offenses in the playoffs. I know this defense is capable of being sound and solid for an entire game, we’ve seen it before.

Shazier’s explanation could very well be the cause of giving up a lot of yards, so I think I’ll leave that as my only complaint.

MY THREE STARS:

Will Allen: For his forced fumble and 5 and a half tackles.

Mike Mitchell: For his fumble recovery and 5 and a half tackles.

-The rest of our defense for saving the game after Ben’s awful throw that was picked off.

Hey Baltimore, you’re next.

Here we go, Steelers! Here we go!
