While the team prepares for roster cuts and for the start of the regular season we’ll be busy looking for mentions of your Black & Gold so we’ve got you covered. Here’s your Steelers Morning Huddle for Sunday, Aug. 28th.

Watch out, everybody else

If the two series that Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown played in during their 27-14 win over the New Orleans Saints on Friday night was any indication of the things to come this season we’re in for a treat.

Roethlisberger ended the night going 12-for-17 for 148 yards and two touchdowns with a passer rating of 136.4. The Steelers first scoring drive went 74 yards in 15 plays ending with a 5-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jesse James.

Mike Prisuta retells the second scoring drive took only four plays for the squad to cover 79 yards, including a 57-yard catch-and-run touchdown pass from Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown. Keep in mind that this is using the watered-down playbook used for the preseason.

Don’t worry about him

Steelers defensive end Cam Heyward left the field on Friday night with a high ankle sprain and was seen in a walking boot after the game. If you’re worried about his injury for Week 1, don’t be.

I think he’ll find his way on the field.

Feeling great

Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell saw his first action of the preseason on Friday night against the Saints. It was his first action in about 10 months, as reminded by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. It will likely be his last action for the next month.

Bell caught five passes for 37 yards and rushed for 21 yards on three carries while splitting time with DeAngelo Williams. It would be highly unlikely for Bell to play in Thursday’s preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers.

The final preseason game of the year typically involves the least amount of starters as possible.
