Here is Sunday’s brunch edition of The Morning Cup. Ed Bouchette continues to drink the hater-aid with an article on Tomlin and Mendenhall, and Baylor nose guard Phil Taylor has the Steelers scheduled as one of his stops for team visits. If you don’t visit Steelers.com much, I suggest you check it out. There is a four part series on Tomlin as well as a series on all the playoff games the Steelers have ever played (one such clipped here for the Cup).
I don’t really understand where Ed Bouchette is coming from these past couple of days. I appears he has a beef against Tomlin that stems from… well… I have no clue. As an invited member of the press down in New Orleans, he sat down with Tomlin. During his exchange(s) he reports Tomlin ‘endorsing’ Bill Belichick’s behavior – an article he entitles “Tomlin endorsed Belichick’s Classles Move.” He places Tomlin in a very negative perspective, especially ending the article writing “Tomlin turned to me and said that he thought of doing the same thing Belichick did, not show up.” One of our readers, Hennessy, commented on this article stating that Tomlin epitomizes class and dignity and if it isn’t about winning football games, then he pretty much doesn’t want to be a part of it. I would imagine that Belichick is the same way. What makes not showing up for something classless?
Now in this next article Ed without a doubt paints Tomlin in a negative light by suggesting that Tomlin purposefully runs his running backs into the ground. What’s with all the sympathy for Willie Parker? And why does he try and make loose connections with new rules protecting players participating in kickoffs but nothing for running backs? Again, there’s not much substance to this article yet the language Bouchette uses surmises that Tomlin is cynical towards his running backs. Nation – what’s up with Ed and his recent beef with Tomlin?
