The Patriots and Bills took advantage of the Steelers not going Corner and picked up the two remaining Corners that I thought could really develop in to solid DBs in the near future, Aaron Williams and Ras-I Dowling. I’m dissapointed that the Steelers never had a chance to nab one of these dudes except in the first round, but I am sure they have a nice idea of a solid pick moving forward.
This morning I wrote about how it is funny that the Bengals keep bringing in WRs while their starting QB wants to be traded at the threat of retiring. The Bungles answered the call for a new QB by drafting Andy Dalton, a QB who went 42-7 as a starter at TCU. They’ll be looking to groom him in moving forward. If Palmer does get traded or if he retires, we may actually see a lot of this kid.
The Steelers need to find a way to address their problems in the secondary. Ike’s value as a free agent keeps going up as we get deeper in to the draft with no clear Corner who could one day take his place. This could raise his asking price and cause the Steelers to release him to FA. I’m getting nervous just thinking about it. Taking a corner in the first round may not have been the best valued pick, but it might have been the less dangerous one.
We’ll see. Don’t want to act like the sky is falling, but if we lose Ike, the sky is falling.
