Good morning, my fellow Citizens of The Mighty Black and Gold Nation.
As you can see, I’m back. I never really went anywhere, but I have been without power for five days now due to the deadly outbreak of tornadoes that ripped through northern Alabama last Wednesday.
If I might take a minute, Citizens, words cannot describe the devastation caused by some of these incredible storms. If you have never had the misfortune of being near a tornado, count yourself lucky.
My family and I are all fine, but as I indicated, we have not had power since Wednesday evening.
I have posted a few pictures of the aftermath on my Twitter site: @pittsburghtodd, if you want to have a look.
If you have the means, please do whatever you can to help those less fortunate than yourselves and myself, some of whom have lost literally everything. There are plenty of people, Steelers fans or not, who could use anything you can spare.
Obviously, because I am one of nearly half a millionpeople who lost their power, I have not had access to TV or the Internet to see what the Steelers did during the draft. It is only because I am at work today and we are on a generator that I am able to post this article. (I’m sure my boss would be ecstatic that I’m spending my time on such a worthwhile project)
I understand the Steelers took a couple of corners, a few linemen on both sides of the ball, a linebacker and a running back.
I plan on posting a more in-depth analysis later in the week, but it sounds like the Steelers addressed their needs nicely and, if Mel Kiper Jr. is to be believed, the Mighty Black and Gold have done what they always seem to do. That is: Do their homework, stick to their plan, and find the best players with the best chance to become the best Steelers.
I’m excited to dive into this in more depth and have my fingers crossed that power will be restored to my house today so I can get some research and writing done. It will be fun to see how Carnell Lake, Coach Dad, Coach Tomlin will work these young guys into the Steelers’ excellent defense, as well as how the O-linemen and running back do.
In the meantime, please keep those who are less fortunate in your hearts and minds.
