STEELERS DRAFT DODGER: PICK YOUR POSITION – OFFENSIVE LINE
By John Wooten
DRAFTING IT UP
Investments on two 1st Round, in addition to two 2nd Round Picks and some undrafted guys that are seizing the moment and you have our current Pittsburgh Steeler Offensive Line. Steelers Management, and all of Steeler Nation, is now looking for expected returns on the emphasis. In the upcoming 2013 Draft, an extra new Tackle (playable on both sides) and a clear need for added depth should make the Offensive Line a mid-to-late round priority, but certainly not before. The only exception would be if something crazy happened and a guy like North Carolina’s Jonathan Cooper fell to us, and that isn’t going to happen. Right, DeCastro? Some oft-talked about Pittsburgh Draft potential in these rounds are Xavier Nixon, OT, Florida and Khaled Holmes, C/G, USC.
DRAFT FROM THE PAST
Mike Webster dominated at Center for the Pittsburgh Steelers
“With the 125th Pick of the 1974 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers Select: Center – Mike Webster, University of Wisconsin”
Mike Webster dominated at Center for the Pittsburgh Steelers
In what is widely considered the Greatest Draft Class in NFL History (inclusive of Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert and John Stallworth) Webster set a Hall of Fame and Super Bowl winning standard as one of the most dominant Center’s of all-time.
DO ME A SOLID
Resign Doug Legursky. Add us some versatile Guard + Tackle depth with our mid-late Draft picks. Start, and finish, the Season with Adams-Foster-Pouncey-DeCastro-Gilbert.
WHAT’S YOUR POSITION?
The best story to follow on our Offensive Line this year is not the full emergence of David DeCastro, it is instead the battle for the starting Right and Left Tackle positions. NPC colleague Nick Kelly has a perfect breakdown of this primed camp battle and important decision for Coach Bicknell. For the upcoming 2013 Season, precluded by this week’s Draft, what is your position on the position of Offensive Linemen?
