Whether or not one wants to go into the realm of religion to make sense of what happened to Mike Adams earlier this morning is entirely up for debate.  What is not up for debate though is the fact that the Steelers’ second-year offensive tackle is extremely lucky to be alive after he was stabbed this morning in a automobile robbery attempt at his South Side home.

Thankfully, one of the apparent robbers dropped their cell phone at the scene of the crime according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.  This type of evidence should make it much easier for law enforcement to discover who was involved in this morning’s events if they are able to match the cell phone with an owner.

The injury and subsequent recovery period from his surgery will sideline Adams for six-eight weeks, and this could be a big blow to the Steelers’ still make-shift offensive line.  Pittsburgh’s projected starting right tackle started six games last season, and he was named the team’s Rookie of the Year for his efforts during his debut campaign.  Thankfully for Adams though, he is expected to make a full recovery from the stabbing and he should be ready for training camp when it begins later this summer.

While losing Adams for some time is big, what is even more important however is the fact that he is safe, sound and is simply on the road to recovery after such a horrific ordeal.  I’m sure we all remember what happened to Washington’s All-Pro safety Sean Taylor almost six years ago as well.

So get well, Mike.  We’re all rooting for you to have a safe and speedy road to recovery.  Moreover, we’re all hoping that they find and prosecute the cowardly jagoffs who tried to destroy your life through their criminal actions.
