The news and speculation is increasing as we get closer to training camp.  Here are a few of the articles that you might find interesting.

Breaking Down the CB’s

Bob Labriola  from Steelers.com with Mike Prisuta from WDVE has started a series that should conclude prior to training camp where he breaks down each position as to the talent at each position and predict starters and back-ups.  It’s an audio recording of “Talking Steelers Football.”  They talked about what is going to interest them to watch during the camp, particularly if the “presumptive” starters i.e. Cortez Allen starting with the William Gay as the nickel actually shape up like all is presumed.

Another Preview of 2013 Steelers

A blog from “The Chancellor of Football” on the Taylor Blitz Times looks at the turnover on the team, how despite that the defense has managed to produce, and how the Steelers will continue to have groups of people who will be leaving the team (Ryan Clark, Troy Polamalu) in the near future.  The article is interesting, but not controversial.  The author has a few spelling erros (like Palamalu instead of Polamalu) and calls Mike Golic Jr by his uncle’s Bob’s name.  I can imagine it is easy to confuse the Golics.   In the end he predicts a 9-7 season.  Do you agree?  I honestly don’t know what to predict about wins and losses for the team and am holding out to see what happens in training camp before I make a prediction.

100 Things Every Steelers Fan Should Know Before They Die

If you haven’t had a chance to get this book before, you make what to think about it after the update is completed.  The book is being updated with some new chapters and new stats and can be preordered on some different web sites.  The blog site, Steelers Gab, highlights Chapter 44 about Donnie Shell and how he is often forgotten when the Steeler greats are remembered.  If you like Steelers trivia, this sounds like the book for you.  I think I might.  Make sure you find the preorder if you look for it.  I looked and found someone selling the current version for nearly $100.  I guess anything Steelers sells.

TE David Johnson’s Last Chance?

Steelers Addict blogger Joseph Bruno takes a look at David Johnson and his chances to make the roster.  He thinks Spaeth is a lock to make the roster with his blocking ability and Johnson needs to show he can do more in the passing game.  I partially agree that Johnson may not have much of a chance but I think with the Heath Miller’s status so up in the air, it is hard to predict anything about the tight ends on the roster – except that Spaeth is one of the better options right now because of his veteran status.  I think the tight end position could be a weak spot for the offense this year.  Again, I’m waiting to see what happens in training camp.

That’s it for today.
