Mystery has shrouded whether or not rookie running back Le’Veon Bell would make his preseason debut tonight against the Washington Redskins.  Thankfully for “Steeler Nation,” we received a positive answer just a few hours ago.

Adam Schefter of ESPN.com recently tweeted that Le’Veon Bell would in fact take the field for the first time as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers in this evening’s game.

I don’t think that I need to go into too much detail as to why this is such a big deal.  Obviously, Mike Tomlin & Co. will finally get to see their second round draft choice in preseason action for the first time.  Most of all however, Bell’s presence in the lineup means that the knee injury he suffered on Thursday of last week was a relatively minor one.

How much Bell will play is still undetermined, and it would not shock me if him and Isaac Redman (who also left last Thursday’s practice early) were limited in tonight’s contest in favor of the more healthy Jonathan Dwyer.  Nevertheless, tonight should help to shed some light on how Bell is holding up from a health perspective as well as how much the rookie has adjusted to the speed of the professional game.
