Obviously, huddle up!

The best way to shake off a Steelers loss in August is to just stay calm and remember it’s the preseason. There were a lot of positives to take away from the game, but some glaring negatives that hope to be rectified before the regular season kicks off in just over two weeks. Here’s what’s being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers around the block.
Coach Tomlin’s post-game quotes
There are only a few “obviously”’s in the transcript of Tomlin’s post-game presser but I’m sure there were more in the live version. Obviously, the team isn’t finishing drives, obviously they are not doing enough to win the game, obviously the turnovers are a problem, obviously penalties are a problem, and obviously the team was left with an empty running back cupboard by the end of the game. The player everyone was waiting to see in action, rookie RB Le’Veon Bell, started the game but left after just a few plays with a mid-foot injury. Bell had an MRI on Tuesday but his status is still unknown. Will Johnson, the one full back, has a rib injury, and RB Baron Batch left the game with a stinger. When Tomlin was asked about the penalty problems this was his response;
"“Poor execution. I just told the guys we are not going to provide lip service. We are going to practice how we intend to play. Maybe an official or two will be at our practices next week to help us in that regard.”-Mike Tomlin"
5 Lessons from Steelers Preseason loss to Redskins
Lessons are good. Neal Coolong from Behind the Steel Curtain brings you five lessons to take away from the Steelers preseason loss to the Washington Redskins. Here are his lessons:
- Steelers offensive line is still a work-in-progress: It’s frustrating that the highly touted offensive line is playing like its Day 1 instead of the second preseason game.
- David Paulson struggling: Paulson is no Heath Miller and he’s not going to be.
- Jonathan Dwyer seized his opportunity: With the opportunity to get most of the snaps on Monday night, Dwyer had a good showing. Aside from the fumble, he took the opportunity he was given and ran with it.
- Landry Jones throws a nice deep ball: Jones had a decent showing against the Redskins after a not-so-decent showing against New York. He was responsible for the Steelers only offensive touchdown so far.
- Shamarko Thomas will hit: Thomas is appearing to be a bright spot in the secondary. No one likes a hard-hitting, fumble-forcing safety like Steeler Nation.
What other lessons can you think of to take away from the game?
Le’Veon Bell foot injury
Everyone in Steeler Nation was waiting to see Bell in action after hearing he was named as co-starter before even taking a snap. Now he’s taken a snap and has suffered a foot injury. How bad is it? Could it be the Lisfranc injury that took Matt Spaeth out of commission for up to 10 weeks? According to Ed Bouchette, it’s not as serious. Let’s hope he’s not just guessing.
