Steelers Will Lose Le’Veon Bell For Six to Eight Weeks

Some unfortunate news came to light today regarding the health of Le’Veon “Can’t Answer The” Bell.

Pittsburgh’s rookie running back was diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury according to a number of reports, and the foot issue will sideline Bell for six to eight weeks according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.com.

I hate to be “that guy,” but it certainly looks like the player who was supposedly less of an “injury risk” than Eddie Lacy is just as brittle, if not more, after all.

With Bell hobbled, the Steelers will now be in an even more sticky situation at the running back position.  Isaac Redman and Jonathan Dwyer were both unable to establish themselves as “every down backs” last fall, while LaRod Stephens-Howling might be too undersized to carry the ball more than 10 times per game.

I do however hope that the former Spartan’s most recent injury does not deter the Steelers’ brass from selecting a running back in next April’s draft.  Bell’s recent injuries and the amount of touches (2010-2012: 671 carries and 78 receptions) he recorded during his collegiate career have to make Pittsburgh’s coaching staff question how durable he can actually be at the professional level.  For now though, all that we can do is wait and see whether or not Bell can realize his potential this fall after he returns from his injury.

Then again, I am more than willing to make “Can’t Answer The” his long-term moniker if he sees more time on the PUP list than he does on the field.
