It’s a game week Steeler Nation! If you’re reading this it means you’ve survived your last weekend without NFL football this year. Feels good, don’t it? Let’s get right into things. Here’s what’s being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers around the block.
Steelers sign the Zoltan
If you follow all Pittsburgh sports and not just the Steelers, you’ll know what the Zoltan sign means for the Pirates. Well the Steelers just got in on some Zoltan action themselves. Yesterday the Steelers announced some more roster changes as they have signed veteran punter Zoltan Mesko and released Drew Butler. Mesko was recently released by the New England Patriots. The Steelers also claimed CB Antwon Blake from the Jacksonville Jaguars and released CB Isaiah Green. If anything can cure the ails of the Steelers special teams, it’s got to be the power of the Zoltan. I believe!

Redman expects to be starter; Bell expects to be back by Week 2
As ESPN’s Scott Brown reports, Isaac Redman has been getting the reps with the first team offense in practice so far this week, signifying that he will be the starter on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Redman is really the Steelers only viable option at a starting running back right now since rookie Le’Veon Bell has still been nursing that mid-foot sprain. Bell expects to be back in action by Week 2 so Redman might have some extra motivation to try and keep that starting job. I’m not sure what to expect out of Redman, to be perfectly honest. He went down early in the preseason and was held out of the last three games. Last season the running game was horrendous and Redman had the same opportunity he has this season to single himself out as the starter. Who knows if he’s up to the task of keeping Bell on the sidelines? Only time and game tape will tell.
Steelers Name 2013 Team Captains
The Steelers have voted on their team captains for the season. Ryan Clark and Brett Keisel will represent the defense. And Maurkice Pouncey and Ben Roethlisberger will represent the offense. This is Pouncey’s first time being voted as captain.
"“It’s touching. Words can’t explain it. It’s humbling and exciting at the same time. It’s a great accomplishment and I appreciate it. Words can’t even explain how I feel right now.” – Maurkice Pouncey"
Steelers safety Ryan Clark will be serving as team captain for the first time as well.
"“It’s probably the biggest honor I have received as a football player. The men in this building that play on our team mean so much to me. I am not going to change. I am not going to be any different. It’s those things I have done that have allowed me to be voted captain. It’s important to lead the young men on this team and the older guys to set an example on and off the field.” – Ryan Clark"
