Steelers Morning Huddle 9/12/2013

Huddle up!

Wouldn’t it have been awful if the Steelers were just ok in their first game loss instead of a horrible dumpster fire? There’d be nothing to talk about if they were just middle-of-the-road. You have to be either extremely good or mind numbingly awful to keep up this kind of talk throughout the week. So we got that going for us. With that being said, here’s what else is being said about your Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dwyer glad to be back

The Steelers were forced to make some roster moves thanks to some season-ending injuries from Sunday’s game so Jonathan Dwyer went from cut list to depth chart just like that. Per Teresa Varley of the Steelers, Dwyer kept in shape while he was off and even tried out for a few teams and is surprised but happy to be back in the Black & Gold.

"“It was a crazy experience. I think I was shocked. But that is what happened. All you can do is move on from it and learn from it, learn from the whole process and apply it to your life. I am happy to be back.” – Jonathan Dwyer"

Dwyer is hoping to make the most of this opportunity this time around. I certainly hope so. Seems to me like the team has been begging for either him or Redman to take the reins and force the team to name them the full-time starter and neither has rose to the occasion. I had high hopes for Dwyer last season, who was the team’s leading rusher, but the rushing stats for the Steelers last year were so bad they resembled the Merrill Hodge days.

Bell Could be out a month

Per Dejan Kovacevic and Alan Robinson of the Trib the Steelers could be without rookie running back Le’Veon Bell’s services for about a month. The midfoot sprain is now being called a Lisfranc injury and we might look to see him suited up around the time the Steelers return from their bye week. Awesome. It was originally thought that Bell could be back a little earlier but apparently we can’t have nice things.

Jarvis Jones to start against Bengals

On the better news front Gerry Dulac of the PPG says that Steelers first round pick LB Jarvis Jones should see an increased number of snaps on Monday night in Cincy. Sounds good to me. After Jarvis shook Chris Johnson’s world in the season opener he played a considerable amount less than Jason Worilds did. Hopefully that will all change against the Bengals.
