Scott Brown of ESPN.com shared some information today via Twitter regarding the health of some of Pittsburgh’s currently hobbled players:

I cannot speak for all of you readers, but I think that we can all agree that both McLendon and Suisham fully participating in practice is tremendous news.  McLendon will be relied on heavily to stuff the middle and create some pocket collapse on Monday night, and his absence would be an enormous blow.

As far as Suisham is concerned, it is definitely positive to know that Pittsburgh’s kicker back in action on the practice field.  Although the team recently-signed Shayne Graham for precautionary purposes, I am nevertheless intrigued to see if the Steelers’ coaching staff will send Suisham back on the field in Week 2.

As I alluded to yesterday, Allen’s absence from Pittsburgh’s upcoming game could completely tip the scales in the favor of Cincinnati’s offense when they go to the air on Monday night.

While I am intrigued to see Shamarko Thomas as the team’s full-time nickelback, the thought of William Gay and him covering the Bengals’ tall tight ends on a consistent basis makes me extremely nervous.  Despite the bad news concerning Allen’s ankle, I will look on the bright-side and hope that the rookie and Gay can step up for him in his absence.
