The Pittsburgh Steelers’ just released an updated version of the team’s injury report on their official website.
According to the aforementioned report, starting cornerback Cortez Allen will be sidelined for the team’s upcoming game, running back Le’Veon Bell is listed as “questionable,” and Steve McLendon, Brett Keisel, Curtis Brown, Jarvis Jones, and Heath Miller are all “probable” to play on Sunday night against the Bears.
Allen’s injured ankle now has me worried and wondering when the starter will finally be back on the field for Pittsburgh. With Allen out, the Steelers have been forced to shuffle their secondary and have used safeties like Shamarko Thomas as cornerbacks in sub-packages.
While Allen’s absence is disconcerting, the good news from the report is that the other six players listed participated in practice fully earlier today.
Bell and Miller both fully participated in practice the last two days, and Pittsburgh’s tight end has done so since Wednesday. The Steelers’ offense has struggled without their starters at running back and tight end in their lineup, so it is definitely promising to see both Bell and Miller so close to returning to action.
I for one cannot wait to see if either one is activated for Sunday’s game, and I am sure that fans at Heinz Field would love nothing more than to yell “HEEEEEAAAATH!” at the tops of their lungs after the tight end makes his first catch of the year.
