Antonio Brown wanted the ball more after his team lost to Cincinnati, and Ben Roethlisberger was more than happy to oblige during Pittsburgh’s 40-23 loss to Chicago at Heinz Field.

Heading into Sunday’s game, the former sixth round pick had only made 11 catches for 126 yards during Pittsburgh’s first two regular season contests.  Antonio however broke out in a big way this evening as he looked like the “number one” wide receiver which the Steelers’ brass thought he could be after Mike Wallace left town this spring.

Brown made nine catches for 196 yards, caught two amazing touchdown passes, and was named Steelers Digest Player of the Week by Bob Labriola for his efforts.

As poorly as the rest of Pittsburgh’s offense played against Chicago, Brown was a definite bright-spot as he illustrated what an electric play-maker he can be when he receives the chances and his quarterback receives adequate pass-protection.

While the Steelers fell to 0-3 on the season, maybe this was just the game the team’s offense needed to get going in the right direction.  Moreover, Brown’s stellar game could give him the confidence to take over as this team’s “number one” threat in the passing game.

Hopefully next week’s winner can receive the accolades while him and the rest of his team will celebrate a “W.”
