As most of you already know, the Pittsburgh Steelers acquired offensive tackle Levi Brown from the Arizona Cardinals earlier today.  Scott Brown of ESPN.com provided some more details on the trade itself and the fallout from the roster moves via Twitter:

What the conditional draft pick is currently and will be in the future has yet to come to light.  I will however say that the fact that the Steelers gave up anything at all for the offensive tackle makes this trade a definite “win” for the Cardinals.

The Steelers must get younger, cheaper, and more talented over the coming seasons, and I just do not understand how a 29 year old tackle who is set to make $4.5 million over the rest of this year fits into their own future rebuilding plans.

As far as Green is concerned, it would not shock me to see the Steelers re-sign him to their practice squad if he clears waivers like he did last month.  With four cornerbacks plus Shamarko Thomas and Robert Golden on the roster, the move itself to release Green makes sense since Pittsburgh’s offensive line is in need of some additional depth.
