Both Kelvin Beachum and Levi Brown Could See Action on Sunday

To their credit, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ coaching staff wisely demoted Mike Adams to third-string at the left tackle position earlier this week. Adams was simply not performing well enough to remain the starter, and the Steelers needed to find a better solution at such an important spot along their offensive line.

Unfortunately for Pittsburgh’s coaching staff, they have yet to decide who will start in Adams’ place this weekend against the New York Jets. When offensive coordinator Todd Haley was asked if both Kelvin Beachum and Levi Brown could see action this Sunday, Haley gave the following response (via Teresa Varley,

"Potentially. Those are end of the week kinds of discussions. The main thing was trying to get Levi up to speed one way or another, and at the same time get Beachum ready to go, and Mike Adams is working his backside off to get ready to go also."

Personally, I could care less who starts or plays left tackle this weekend. I would just like to see one, two, or even three guys do a solid job on Ben Roethlisberger’s blind-side for a change. If it’s Beachum, great. If it’s Brown, great. If it’s both of them rotating, then that’s just fine and dandy.

Of course, both of them could be on the field at the same time if Beachum is asked to fill-in at left guard for Ramon Foster who is nursing a pectoral injury. As it stands though, the left tackle position is still “up for grabs,” and it could very well be for the final 12 games of the regular season.
