Only Markus Wheaton Expected to Miss Sunday’s Game For the Steelers

A hobbled casserole of nonsense during the month of September, the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense will play their first game in October relatively injury-free as a unit.

Granted, Maurkice Pouncey is still sidelined, but both Le’Veon Bell and Heath Miller are back in the lineup and Mike Adams will thankfully be riding the pine. While Kelvin Beachum and Levi Brown do not represent “monumental” upgrades on “Big Ben’s” blind-side, they are still upgrades nonetheless.

In fact, wide receiver Markus Wheaton is the only player who is scheduled to miss Pittsburgh’s game tomorrow against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium according to Bob Labriola of Steelers Digest:

With the rookie speedster sidelined, the Steelers will have to turn to the raw yet talented Derek Moye to fill the “fourth receiver” role. I for one will not complain, especially since Moye brings some much needed size to the passing game. If the Steelers can move the ball into the Jets’ red zone, Moye and Miller should provide Roethlisberger with two big targets for fade routes and jump-balls.

As excited as I am about Moye being active for the first time since the Cincinnati game, I am just as happy that Pittsburgh’s offense is entering this game essentially “injury-free” on the offensive side of the ball.

In my opinion, the timing could not be any more perfect.

The Jets are one of the stingiest defenses in the entire league (rank second in total yards allowed), and they possess a lethal duo along their defensive line in the form of Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson.

It’ll be “nut up or shut up” time for the Steelers’ offense tomorrow, but it is definitely a huge plus that they can go into the game guns blazin’ with basically almost all of their weapons at their disposal.
